Paul Aron was born in Newark on July 10, 1942 to Anne (Ellenburg) and Asher Aron and lived much of his life in New Jersey. During high school he enjoyed scouting, becoming an Eagle Scout. Paul graduated from Rutgers University in 1964 with a major in Soviet economics. After college he worked for the U.S. Department of State for six months on a cultural exchange in the Soviet Union. Upon his return to the U.S., Paul attended graduate school at Columbia University and the New School for Social Research.

He married Helen Bendorf in 1966. They were married for nearly 50 years.

Paul served in the United States Air Force for four years during the Vietnam War and then pursued a professional career in information technology. Jointly with several colleagues, Paul was awarded a patent in 2001 for a global financial services integration system. He retired in 2004 as a computer architect for Citibank, N.A.

Paul enjoyed traveling, photography, automobiles, and gourmet cuisine. He and Helen lived in Europe for two years during one of his international assignments for Citibank. They used this assignment as an opportunity to explore parts of Europe they had not seen.

Paul died of a rare degenerative disease (CBGD) on May 4, 2015.
