Jared S. Fichtelberg, a devoted son and caring friend, departed this world on October 5, 2019 at the age of 53. Born in Plainfield, NJ, Jared attended the Plainfield Regional Hebrew Day School, later graduating from the Hebrew Academy of Central NJ. He briefly attended both JEC in Elizabeth, NJ and Plainfield High School before completing his secondary studies in the Israel Goldstein Youth Village of Hanoar Hatzioni in Jerusalem, Israel. Jared had several careers. He worked as a professional fundraiser and a promoter of Doo Wop concerts. He briefly worked in the restaurant industry, and later founded his own travel agency, Fun ‘n Sun Travel, servicing clients in Dade and Broward counties in southeast FL, where he resided for almost 20 years. Jared was an avid radio collector, sports fan, and dog lover. He saw his beloved Yankees win their Divisional Playoff series against the Minnesota Twins moments before he was struck and killed by a young motorist while he and his service dog were crossing a major intersection in North Fort Myers, FL, near his home where he spent the past several years. Jared was predeceased by his parents, Muriel and Fred Fichtelberg, his brother Mark E. Fichtelberg, and his longtime beloved service beagle, Harvey. Jared is survived by his brother Konrad (Randy) Fichtelberg, age 64, sister-in-law Nancy Fichtelberg, four nieces and their extended families, and his most recent service dog, Augie, who survived the vehicular incident and found a wonderful, loving home with the people who rescued him. Jared will be greatly missed.
